<p>PURPOSE:To obtain the title construction material using a large quantity of coal ash as the main component by granulating a mixture of coal ash and cement while sprinkling water followed by curing in a moist air. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of (A) 50-95wt.% of coal ash, (B) 5-20wt.% of cement, and (C) 0-20wt.% of at least one kind of powder selected from blast furnace slag powder, steelmaking slag powder, crushed stone powder, castings waste, etc., is granulated while sprinkling water followed by curing in a moist air, thus obtaining the objective construction material. Alternatively, solidified pellets as raw material are kneaded with cement and water etc., and the resulting mixture is put into a mold followed by placing with a vibrator into a slab, thus obtaining the objective construction material of high density. The present construction material is excellent in water absorptivity because of using as the main component coal ash with voids, also being high in mechanical strength for the product from the granulation process; whereas the present material from the latter process (in the form of a slab) is excellent in thermal insulation as well as water penetrability, thus being highly useful as aggregates.</p> |
