PURPOSE:To reduce weight of power transmission shaft greatly by constituting the outer ring of an equal speed universal joint by hybrid structure consisting of inner and outer members, and making the outer and shaft members of fiber- reinforced composite material. CONSTITUTION:The outer ring 14 of an equal speed universal joint 10 is constituted by hybrid structure consisting of a steel inner member 14a along the mouse shape of the outer ring and an outer member 14b which is formed on its outside. The outer member 14b and a shaft member 2 are made of fiber- reinforced composite material and combined integrally each other. As for the power transmission shaft, a half of the outer ring 14 of the equal speed universal joint 10 and the whole shaft member 2 are made of fiber-reinforced composite material. Thus, it is possible to reduce weight of the power transmission shaft greatly. |
