An explosively driven impelling gun comprises a housing (1), a drive piston (14) having a shoulder (17) facing in the impelling direction. A piston guide sleeve (6) is movable axially, with a piston return lock (29) extending perpendicularly to the piston axis and a holder member (36) selectively movable over with a shoulder (38) of the lock. The holder member (36) is rotatable about the piston axis. The shoulder (38) extends in the peripheral direction along a part of the holder member (36).
