A method and a device for measuring the spatial delay existing between two signals with the same frequency, particularly in the microwave band. The two signals are applied to the input (A,B) of a transmission circuit (2) where they propagate in opposite directions. A circuit (3) determines the envelope (Sp) of the resultant stationary wave in the transmission circuit (2). A circuit (4) calculates the spatial delay proportional to the position of the first maximum in the amplitude of the envelope with respect to a reference distance. The frequency of the signals is inversely proportional to the distance between two successive maxima of the envelope and may be calculated by a circuit (5). Application to phased-array direction finders. <IMAGE>
