Low pressure Hg vapour discharge lamp for tanning purposes has an envelope with an internal coating of 2 phosphors converting the Hg radiation into skin-tanning UV radiation, one phosphor (I) having max. UV-A emission between 360 and 380 nm. The novelty is that the other phosphor (II) has a UV-A emission max. between 335 and 355 nm. Pref. the (I):(II) wt. ratio = 2.5:1 to 1:1.5, 1:3 to 1:5 or 5:1 to 3:1. (I) is Sr borate:Eu (IA) and (II) Ba disilicate:Pb (IIA) or Ce-Hg aluminate (IIB). There is a reflective layer between the phosphor mixt. and the envelope of the temp.
