The plastic film contains a reinforcement of a fibrous material which has an impregnation and, possibly, a coating of a plastic on at least one of its two surfaces. The plastic is essentially composed of a mixed polymer having at least two different monomeric units, which are selected from the group comprising vinyl esters, maleic esters, fumaric esters, acrylic esters, methacrylic esters, linear alpha -olefins having 2 to 8 C atoms and styrene. The film is suitable for the production of tubes which have a longitudinal seam. The tubes are principally used as synthetic casings for sausages.
