<p>A protector to be worn on a finger by surgeons and doctors, to prevent cuts or needle stab wounds during surgical procedures. comprises a tube closed at one end and formed by one or more strip members (1, 2) in helical configuration. The strip member is of such cross section, e.g. channel section, and is so positioned that adjacent edges of adjacent turns of the helix interlock to prevent the turns separating axially but allowing a limited amount of axial movement. Thus when the protector is worn, the finger can be bent to a limited extent without the adjacent turns separating. Preferably the transverse cross section of the tip of the protector is assymmetric with a portion of the circumference of larger radius of curvature than the remainder of the circumference to provide a flattened tip, thereby improving the grip of the protected fingers.
