A thermal transfer sheet has a substrate film (2), a heat-fusible ink layer (3) formed on one surface side of the substrate film, and an antisticking layer (4) formed on the other surface side of the substrate film. The heat-fusible ink layer comprises a carbon black having toluene-colouring transmittance of 60% or more, has a uniform thickness and is capable of providing printed letters improved in blackness and durability properties such as solvent resistance.
