A photographic camera is equipped with a zoom lens, with a means intended to set the zoom focal length in a plurality of different zoom modes. It comprises a zoom mode selector (19), a display (26, 30), a display control means (22) which can control the display (26, 30) in response to the mode chosen by the selector (19), in order to indicate the chosen mode. The zoom has a range of focal lengths which extends from a telephoto end to a wide-angle end, and the display control means (22) is sensitive to the setting position of the lens in order to indicate towards which end the focal length is moved. <IMAGE>
