An injection molding machine includes a mold closing unit which is adapted to selectively accommodate injection mold assemblies having injection openings with different axes. Accordingly, the injection molding unit of the injection molding machine is capable of selectively assuming a plurality of working positions. Each working position is associated with an injection axis. A first working position is assumed in case the mold assembly held by the mold closing unit has a central injection opening, in which case the injection in that working position occurs in a central injection axis. The other working positions are associated with off-center injection axes to be associated with corresponding off-center injection openings of other mold assemblies. The stationary mold carrier of the mold closing unit has a throughgoing aperture through which a frontal part of the injection molding unit projects when brought into operative engagement with the mold assembly held in the mold closing unit. The injection molding machine includes a transposing unit which shifts the injection molding unit parallel to itself into the selected working position, in a direction transversely to the parallel-extending injection axes. The mold cavity of the mold assembly having an offcenter injection opening is so arranged that the center of mold separating forces generated during injection will lie approximately in the central axis of the mold assembly. |
