Testing sealing of foil sealed air tight containers - by applying pressure and counter pressure to destroy faulty seals

The method of testing the sealing of air tight containers involves subjecting the container under test to a suitable over-or underpressure and measuring the change in shape of the container or its seals to detect each unsealed container or closure. After an underpressure is applied to the container, which is sealed by a thin plastics or metal foil, a counterpressure is approximately simultaneously applied to the foil for a short time. Each unsealed closure is thus detected pref. through being destroyed. USE/ADVANTAGE - E.g. for testing milk and yoghurt containers. Reliable, fully automatic testing is achieved without delaying prodn. process.
