PURPOSE:To ensure a quick and accurate confirmation for the working of an optical character reader, by preparing a multi-value pattern of a character, its binary pattern and the character code respectively. CONSTITUTION:A multi-value pattern of a picture or character prepared at a pattern memory 5 is out to a controller 6 and then bindary coded through a binary coding device of a reader to be written into a video memory 7. Then the binary pattern of a multi-value pattern prepared at a pattern memory 8 is collated with the binary pattern of the memory 7 to perform a video pattern matching 9. These patterns are recognized through a recognition processor 10 and stored in a recognition result storage memory 11 and then receive a matching 13 with the code of the multi-value pattern stored in a character file 12. In such way, the recognition is possible for the working of an optical character reader in a quick and accurate way. |
