The invention relates to a process for the preparation of thieno-triazolo-diezapine derivatives of the formula: <IMAGE> wherein Y is O or S and R is alkenyl, alkyl or a cyclic group, substituted aryl or hetero aryl, substituted phenyl, phenoxy, alkyl sulphonyl or a fluoro or chloro atom, or trifluoromethyl or a condensed bicyclic group containing a hetero atom, or substituted sulphonyl.
