The device includes a recirculation pipe (7) connected at one of its ends to an exhaust pipe (6) for the gases from the engine and, at its other end, to an intake pipe (4) for fresh gas into the engine (1), a valve (8) interposed on the recirculation pipe including a shut-off member and a means for moving the shut-off member in order to control the opening and of the valve (8). The means (9a) for moving the shut-off member consists of a movable member for controlling and setting the power level of the engine, such as the throttle lever (load lever) (9a) of the injection pump (9) for the engine (1). The lever (9) is connected to the shut-off member of the valve (8) by a transmission member such as a control cable (5). The shut-off member of the valve (8) may consist of a double valve, the stem of which is connected to the control cable (5) through the use of a spring. The valve 8 is closed when the engine is idling, opens to provide recirculation of the gases when the engine is operating under part load conditions, and closes again when the engine (1) is operating under heavy load and remains in the closed position while the load increases as far as full load. <IMAGE> |
