Thermoplastic processable functionalised olefinic polymers (I) based on monomer(s) selected from olefins, dienes and vinyl aromatic cpds. are claimed. The novelty is that they are prepd. by melt mixing of the corresp. unfunctionalised polymers with 1,2-dihydroxy cyclobutenedione at 200-290 (220-240) deg.C.. Also claimed are thermoplastic mouldings contg.: (i) 4-40 (5-25) wt. pts. (I); (ii) 96-60 (95-7) wt. pts. polyamide pref. PA6, PA46, PA66, PA612, PA1012, PA1012, PA1212, PA11 and/or PA12; (iii) opt. a flame retardant, additives and/or reinforcing agent. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used as an impact component for polyamides. They improve the notch toughness of polyamides without effecting the elasticity modulus.
