Laser diode pumped ring laser - has three crystals forming resonator including Faraday rotation element

A laser diode pumped solid state laser has three NO:YAG crystals (10a-10c) that have ground and polished surfaces such that the elements adhere together to form an optical contact. The surfaces of two of the crystals (10a,10c) are separated by an air gap (10d) which forms part of a resonator path (22) and contains a Faraday element (17). The complete resonator path is created by internal reflections from the crystal surfaces. Pumping energy is provided by laser diodes (24). ADVANTAGE - Generates high laser power.
