The method produces a cutting, broaching or boring tool. The tool has a shank (1) of a first material with a recess (2), a cutting insert (3) being soldered into the latter and which is of material harder than the first and with a longer life. The insert is fitted in the recess and provided with hard solder (5), and is heated in a vacuum chamber to a temp. above its hardening temp. and also above the melting and reticulation temp. of the solder. Cooling then takes place to a temp. ensuring hardening of the soldered insert. ADVANTAGE - Low cost and high resistance to shock load.
