<p>PURPOSE:To regulate the traveling position of a tape by providing the tape position adjusting mechanism with a position sensor for detecting a position in the width direction of a tape, two guide posts arranged in the traveling direction of the tape and a driving mechanism for changing the inclinations of the posts by a sensor output. CONSTITUTION:The tape position adjusting mechanism is provided with the sensor 8 for detecting the tape position immediately before the inlet of a rotary drum 4, a post string 9 consisting of the guide posts 2, 3 holding the tape 5 between them in the traveling direction and the driving device for inclining the post string 9 based upon the output of the sensor 8 while parallelly holding the string 9 to adjust the tape position, reduce a positional error and travel the tape within an allowable position range. A contactless optical sensor for holding the tape 5 is preferable for the sensor 8. When an inclination alpha from the tape traveling (horizontal) direction, a winding angle theta and the diameter D of the guide post are applied, relative deformation between the post and the tape can be calculated. When the sizes of respective parts are determined so that the relative displacement is minimized, the response to the deformation can be improved. Even if flanges and leads are not fixed to the guide posts and the rotary head drum in this constitution, the tape can be traveled on the fixed position.</p> |
