The disclosed composition containing, in a manner known per se, at least one wax, at least one consistency agent and at least one volatile organic solvent and the optional conventional ingredients (fillers, pigments, vitamins, amino acids, etc..) is characterised in that it contains an aqueous solution of at least one hydrosoluble film-forming polymer (derivatives of keratin, chitine, chitosane, cellulose; acrylic polymers; polyvinylpyrrolidones and vinyl copolymers; natural polymers; ethylene polymers; oxyethylenated silicones, etc.). The particularity of this mascara is to obtain an increased resistance to water of the product by introducing an aqueous solution of hydrosoluble substances in an anhydrous formulation. The system contains no emulsifying agent and nevertheless allows a stable composition to be obtained containing approximately 10 % water in a completely hydrophobic medium.
