Device limiting the use of a product, for example tobacco. The invention relates to a device making it possible to warn the user of a cigarette case that he is opening the case during a period in which he has decided to prohibit himself from smoking. A programmable clock fitted to the case makes it possible for the user to determine the periods during which he allows himself to smoke. A switch installed on or in the case is actuated by opening that case. An alarm, electrically powered by a cell or battery and controlled by the programmer and by a switch, informs the user that he has opened the case during a period which is prohibited to him. <IMAGE>
