PURPOSE:To obtain tapered fiber having touch extremely resemble to animal hair by coating a solubilizer or decomposer with a covering agent not to dissolving the solubilizer, etc., before or after providing fiber bundled material with the solubilizer, etc., and subjecting to the fiber bundled material to weight reduction treatment while maintaining parts not to require weight reduction at a lower temperature than parts to require weight reduction. CONSTITUTION:For example, a fiber bundled material of short fibers comprising polyester-based fiber is immersed in a solution of treating agent (e.g. solution of sodium hydroxide) to dissolve or decompose the fiber bundled material and wound around paper. The side of the fiber bundled material wound around paper is coated with a covering material insoluble in the solubilizer, etc., the central parts (insoluble parts) are cooled with water and the fiber bundled material is heat-treated in a hot air dryer to give tapered fiber having a tapered end with a smooth tip part. By this method, uniform tapered fibers having appearance and touch closely resembling animal hair are extremely readily obtained in high yield. |
