The process/device is for making a plate (113), esp. of galvanised metal sheet, from a strip (103), esp. for making thin-walled channel elements. Sections (105) of the same length, with walls at right angles to each other, are cut pref. from a band. Sections are connected to each other along the longitudinal sides. A plate is cut from the new wide band (110) formed from the cut sections.
