PURPOSE:To provide a thermal recording material generating no lowering of the density of a color forming part due to water and excellent in water resistance by using a specific phenolic compound as an electron acceptive compound. CONSTITUTION:A phenolic compound represented by formula I (wherein R is a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom or an alkyl group, X is a phenyl group, a phenoxy group or an alkoxy group and n is 0, 1 or 2) is used as an electron acceptive compound but other electron acceptive compound can be together used. When a thermal recording material is prepared, an electron donating compound, the electron acceptive compound and auxiliary components may be bonded to and supported on a support. This thermal recording material is excellent in color forming sensitivity and suitable for high speed recording and generates no lowering of the density of a color forming part due to water and also becomes excellent in water resistance. |
