In the method a smooth tube, preferably a smooth tube with a longitudinal welded seam, is fed in a continuous operation through a bush 11a and in which a corrugating tool 12 acts on the smooth tube immediately behind the bush, in which corrugating tool a corrugator disc 13 with an opening larger than the diameter of the smooth tube is supported eccentrically and so that it can be rotated freely in a corrugator head which can be rotationally driven; the corrugated tube is deflected from the production direction a sleeve 18, belled at both ends and rotating with the tool, in the direction of the point of action of the corrugator disc in order to achieve a deep corrugation. An electrical energy cable with a corrugated tube manufactured according to the method is also described, the corrugated tube being between 33 and 67% shorter than the smooth tube from which it is manufactured.
