PURPOSE:To prevent accidents such as seizing by applying lubricant which is solid or semisolid at normal temperature on the surface of a rolled stock that is in contact with the central working roll side of a rolling mill consisting of a central working roll and plural outer periphery working rolls. CONSTITUTION:When a steel plate 5 is rolled by a rolling mill made up of a central working roll 1 and, for instance, two outer periphery working rolls, the steel plate 5 is rolled at rolling points 4, 4. At this time, a film of lubricant which is solid or semisolid at normal temperaure is formed on the surface of the steel plate 5 that contacts with the roll 1 side. The lubricant is metallic soap, wax, higher fatty acid, various hydrocarbons and their derivatives, and they are simple substance of mixture, or synthetic resins made by dispersing or dissolving the above substances. These are melted by heating applied by a roll coater etc. on the surface of the steel plate, cooled and solidified to make a dry film. |
