In a screen rake for removing foreign material from flowing water, the moving frame is supported on either side by levers attached to sliding blocks which are mounted in the side members of the screen support frame, and the levers are pivoted about their axis of connection to the sliding blocks by an electric motor drive. At least two sliding blocks are used on either side of the screen and are joined to a frame consisting of side members and cross members. This frame is moved by a crank and connecting rod, or by a screwed rod, driven by the motor. The levers have the shape of right-angled triangles. The bars of the fixed screen are flat, while the bars of the moving screen or rake have a zigzag profile.
