The ball valves of a hand actuated diaphragm pump for a windscreen washer are arranged so that the inlet valve 15 is retained in its housing by the cage 16 of the outlet valve 17 which is checked on its opening movement by a ported tube 18 both ends of which pass out of the valve housing and form connecting nipples for two separate pipes.
