TERMINAL DEVICE HAVING DISPLAY SECTION

PURPOSE:To extend the life of the back light of the display section of a terminal device placed outdoors by controlling the energization and de-energization of the back light according to the conditions of either one or both of external illuminance and the preset time. CONSTITUTION:A back light 3 gives out light to the back side of a display section 1 and is controlled with a back light control section 4. The data of the on-off time of the back light 3 are input in advance into the input section 11 of a host device. A host processing section 10, at predetermined time points, sends on-off signals to an outdoor terminal device. An illuminance detecting section 6 detects the increase and decrease in the outdoor illuminance and sends the detected signal to a central control section 7. The control section 7 controls the control section 4 to turn on or off the light 3 with the two kinds of signals described above and with the detection of either the preset illuminance or the time whichever earlier.
