<p>PURPOSE:To reduce an installation space and reduce the friction of a transmission mechanism by installing an electric motor in parallel with a rack, and connecting the electric motor and a pinion via a hypoid gear and a hypoid gear wheel. CONSTITUTION:When an electric motor 11 is rotated in response to the output signal from a controller 20, its power is transmitted to a rack 12 via a rotary shaft 13 hypoid gear 14 hypoid wheel 15 pinion shaft 16 pinion 17, when the rack 12 is moved, rear wheels 19 are steered via side rods 18. Hereupon the steering angle of rear wheels 19 is detected by a potentiometer 21 as the rotation angle of the pinion shaft 16, and the controller 20 controls the rear wheels 19 at the optimum steering angle based on both the signal corresponding to the front wheel steering and the signal of the rear wheel steering. The motor 11 is installed in parallel with the rack 12 by using the hypoid gear 14 and hypoid wheel 15, thus the length in the perpendicular direction to the rack 12 is made short.</p> |
