A granular material containing (A) 20 to 45 wt. % of a laminar silicate, (B) 15 to 50 wt. % of a fine crystalline, synthetic zeolite, (C) 0 to 15 wt. % of water-soluble salts from the class of sulphates, carbonates and phosphates of sodium or potassium, (D) 0 to 8 wt. % of the sodium salt of a homopolymeric or copolymeric (meth)acrylic acid, (E) 0 to 2 wt. % of cellulose ethers and (F) 0 to 20 wt. % of nonionic tensides from the class of the polyglycolethers is useful as a brightening detergent additive. The difference consists of water. The (A) and (C) contents are expressed on the dry basis. The sum of constituents (D) and (E) is equal to 1 to 8 wt. %.
