870,303. Laminates. HERBERTS, K., [trading as HERBERT'S & CO., Dr. K.]. April 22, 1959 [April 22, 1958; Oct. 3, 1958], No. 13776/59. Class 140. A thermoset resin laminate sufficiently flexible to be formed into a roll and to be applied as a facing to curved surfaces is formed by impregnating a decorative absorbent paper with an aqueous solution of a melamine- or ureaformaldehyde resin, drying, and uniting it, with heat and pressure, to one or more layers of cellulose hydrate such as parchment or vulcanized fibre. The cellulose hydrate layers may be secured together by parchment or other papers impregnated with phenol-, urea- or melamine-formaldehyde resin, and the under surface may be sealed with such a paper or by a coating of the resin, a further layer of cellulose hydrate being provided to assist the bonding of the laminate by adhesives to curved or other surfaces. The moisture content of the various layers is preferably substantially equalized. |
