Drive chain for mining machine feed - has alternate long and short links with elongated holes in short links

The driver chain for the foward movement mechanism of a mining machine is formed from alternate long (1) and short links (2). Each short link has an elongated hole (5) to receive the ends of two consecutive long links. The elongated hole has a rib (6) which projects inwards from each long side of the hole. The ribs form abutments for the ends of the long links so that the ends of consecutive long links do not abut against each other, but there is sufficient clearance to enable each long link to rotate w.r.t. the attached short links. ADVANTAGE - Easy short link separation, and small clearance.
