A method for purification of L-phenylalanine (I) from fermentation broth comprises culturing (II) producing m/o to 27g/l or (I), adding same mole as 0.17M of ZnCl2 ZnSO4, or Zn acetate and controlling the broth to pH 8.5-9.0 by NH4OH to precipitate L-phe Zn salt (II), dissolving (II) in water as below 5% sol. and controlling pH to 5.0 by HCl, sulfuric acid, or phosphoric acid, and condensating and washing to remove soluble Zn ions. Yield of (II) is over 98%.
