摘要 A thrust plate (64) for a gear pump or motor (10) which permits the use of high pressure fluid from the outlet side (30) thereof to lubricate the bushings and trunnions (36, 38, 40, 42, 48, 50, 52, 54) therein. The thrust plates (64) (see Figs. 5 and 6) include two small bores (82, 84) which pass therethrough and which are in fluidic communication with the inlet side (28) of the pump via the surface (66) of the thrust plate that confronts the gears (14, 16) within the pump. The foregoing bores (82, 84) are also in fluidic communication with the bushings (36, 38, 40, 42) by means of associated slots (86, 88) in the opposite side of the thrust plate. The opposite ends of the bushings (36, 38, 40, 42) are in fluidic communication with fluid at atmospheric pressure. By minimizing the size of the foregoing bores (82, 84) and by allowing the passage of fluid through same to the inlet side of the pump via the gear tooth confronting surface (66) of the thrust plate, pressure gradients are created across the trunnions (48, 50, 52, 54) and their associated bushings (36, 38, 40, 42). These pressure gradients permit high pressure fluid to traverse outwardly from the thrust plate (64) along the surface of the trunnions (48, 50, 52, 54) to the approximate end thereof to lubricate same and then to move inwardly along the trunnions (48, 50, 52, 54) toward the thrust plate (64) and to pass therethrough via the bores (82, 84) therein.
