The invention concerns a turning tool, in particular a cutting-off tool (1) with a cutting edge (3) disposed in the face of the tool at an angle ( kappa ). Between the two end sections (9, 10) of the cutting edge (3) is a recessed central section (11), the joining edges (15, 16) along the inclined sides of the hollowed-out section making an angle ( delta ) with each other and being of different size. The joining edge (15) adjacent to the corner (7) preceding the rest of the tool in the direction of tool feed (5) makes an angle ( alpha ) with the adjacent end-section edge (12), this angle being greater than the angle ( beta ) between the other joining edge (16) and the end section (13) which follows in the direction of tool feed. |
