PURPOSE:To automatically and efficiently polish a pipe body weld by pressing a brush against the weld for rotary polishing with a polishing device rotatively embraced in the pipe body itself, while turning pivotably the polishing device itself along the outer periphery of the pipe body. CONSTITUTION:When a device turning drive motor M1 and brush rotating drive motor M2 are started, the former operates to drive a worm 15 of the output shaft, worm wheel 16 on the upper end of a transmission shaft 17, worm 18 on the lower end and a worm wheel 19 of a drive shaft 20 in the order mentioned so that the drive shaft 20 is deceleratedly rotated at about 1/300 rotational speed. Simultaneously with the rotation of the drive shaft 20, drive sprockets 23, 24 on both side positions thereof are rotated synchronously, and the device body, which is chain-guided by lead chains 39, 40 engaging with the sprockets 23, 24, pivots slowly while rolling along the outer peripheral surface of a pipe body P. A rotary brush B is rotated by the other drive motor M2 at high speed. |
