PURPOSE:To prevent the destruction in sealing parts at the time of injection of a liquid crystal by constituting the above element in such a manner that the surface coating layer of a color filter substrate is not formed in the liquid crystal sealing part of a seal. CONSTITUTION:A thermosetting resin of a polyimide system is applied on the colored layer 12 formed on a transparent substrate 11 and is baked to form the coating layer 13. The surface coating layer 14 is so formed by flexographic printing in such a manner that this layer does not cover the liquid crystal injection port 20 and is formed in the part corresponding to transparent electrode patterns 15. The transparent electrodes 15 are then formed by a low-temp. sputtering method and are patterned by an acid etching liquid. Further, an oriented layer 16 consisting of the polyimide resin is formed so as not to cover the seal 18. The element is constituted in such a manner that the injection port sealing part 18 to be most applied with stresses at the time of liquid crystal injection does not continue onto the surface coating layer 14 having a relatively weak adhesive property, by which the adhesive strength between the respective layers near this part is improved. |
