PURPOSE:To better conformity of a vehicle headlamp with a vehicle body from the point of view of design by forming an outer lens from a colored glass which is colored by irradiation of a ray of specific wavelength and becomes colorless by stopping of irradiation, and applying to a lamp a coating film which blocks the wavelength. CONSTITUTION:The lens 4a or outer lens 4b of a vehicle headlamp 1 is formed from a colored glass which is colored when silver is precipitated by reaction of e.g. halogenated silver to irradiation of ultraviolet rays and which becomes colorless and transparent when silver reverts to halogenated silver by stopping of irradiation, and a coating film 5 made of a material which blocks this wave length is applied to the surface of the bulb 2a of a lamp 2. The lamp therefore becomes semi-transparent in day time and so further increases a sense of continu ity with a vehicle body 10, while at night the lens 4a or outer lens 4b becomes transparent in the absence of solar light but becomes opaque again by lighting of the front lamp 2; that is prevented by the coating film 5 of the lamp 2. Conformity of the lamp 2 with the vehicle body 10 from the point of view of design is thus bettered. |
