PURPOSE:To readily clean a contact electrifying member by abutting a cleaning member provided on a process cartridge side on the contact electrifying member disposed on a device main body side while an attached or detached process cartridge is moved. CONSTITUTION:An image carrier 1 is designed as the process cartridge C that can be attached to or detached from the device main body, and a means electrifying the surface of the image carrier 1 is equipped with an electrifying roller 6 as the contact electrifying member on the device main body side. When the process cartridge C is attached to or detached from the device main body, in the moving process of the cartridge C, the surface of the cleaning member 5 on the side of the cartridge C comes into press-contact with the electrifying roller 6 on the device main body side, whereby the face of the electrifying roller 6 is cleaned by the cleaning member 5 to remove sticking foreign matters. Thus, the contact electrifying member 6 is readily cleaned. |
