DATA PROCESSING SYSTEM WITH TOUCH SCREEN AND THE LIKE

PURPOSE: To obtain a compact data processing system which can input plural and different kinds of data by providing sensing means for converting stimulation into signals for a touch screen and a digitized tablet and transmitting output signals in parallel. CONSTITUTION: A compact input device is realized by incorporating the touch screen 10 and the digitized tablet 12. They can independently be activated and therefore the screen 10 responds only to a touch and the tablet 12 responds only to a stylus 68. When the stylus 68 radiates ultrasonic waves, crossing behavior shows the instantaneous position of the stylus with at least two receivers 26 and 28. The screen 10 operates based on surface acoustic waves emitted from transmitters 16 and 18 into a front panel 20. When a soft tissue such as a finger touches the panel 20, surface acoustic wave energy is absorbed and the amplitude of pulse elements 36 and 38 is reduced and a contact point 40 is displayed.
