A liner 2, Fig. 1, of titanium or zirconium metal or alloys is attached to the wall 1 of a hollow body of mild steel, stainless steel &c., by bolts, screws or studs 4 of the same metal as the liner 2 inserted in the region of wall reinforcement such as a ring 3. In one example the ring 3 is of mild steel and is arranged between the liner 2 and the wall 1 so that it may be attached by end welds 7 and spot welds 8. The head of each screw 4 is brazed at 5 to the liner 2 which is also brazed to the ring 3 as at 6 by pure silver or silver alloy. In a modification, studs 18, Fig. 2, engaging the steel structure 11 are welded at 17 to the liner 12 and support a reinforcing ring 16. The liner may be reinforced by annular corrugations 13 or rings 14 welded thereto. |
