The multistage compressor has a high pressure reservoir attached to the final compressor stage, the outlet of which can be connected to a user. The compressor (1) can be operated in a booster mode. The outlet of the reservoir (5) is then connected with the inlet of at least one of the higher compression stages (III) and the outlet of the final stage, bypassing the reservoir and the user (5). ADVANTAGE - Multistage compressor in which rapid charging can be accomplished in addition to the normal process which relies on atmospheric pressure.
