The device is applied in the mechanical engineering sector (machine building) and improves the operational characteristics of cutting tools made of rapid steel and hard alloys and is characterised by increased functionality and technological possibilities. It consists of a rectifier block (1), control switches (4 and 5) and a power inductor (8) comprising two circuits (13 and 14). The first circuit (13) contains a parallel capacitor circuitry (15) and switched in parallel to it a circuit of connected in series thyristor (17), the cathode of which is connected to the initial terminal of the winding (19) of the inductor (8). The second circuit (14) contains a capacitor (16), one pole of which is connected to the first circuit (13) and the second pole of which is connected to the anode of the thyristor (18) of the second circuit (14). The additional thyristor (22) is connected in parallel to the series circuit comprising a resistor (21) and the winding of the inductor in the second circuit (20) and also to the cathode of the thyristor (18). The two circuits are galvanically connected to the negative terminals (9 and 10) of the rectifier block (1).
