A protective cover 10 for cable reels comprising a plurality of battens 11 that are linked together in a parallel array by two spaced apart flexible straps 20 or 60 that are secured to the underside of the battens. The straps 20, 60 may be tensioned to hold the cover 10 over the periphery of the cable reel 13. Alternatively, separate steel bands 40, 41 are used on the exterior of the array to hold the array in tension on the reel 13. In one embodiment, the flexible straps are in the form of ropes 60 positioned on the underside of the array to centrally locate the array on the reel 13. |
