The iron comprises an electrical connection casing (2) connected to the electrical supply lead (3) of the iron, this casing being fixed removably to the rear part (4) of the iron, so as to make it possible to iron with this connection casing (2) fixed to the iron or detached therefrom, this iron being furthermore combined with a base (5) capable of supporting the rear part of the iron. This base (5) includes locking means interacting with complementary means provided on the connection casing (2) for controlling the locking and unlocking of the said connection casing (2) with respect to the base (5) and for controlling the locking and unlocking of the said casing (2) with respect to the said rear part (4) of the iron (1).
