One-piece spindle unit - holds electromotor armature at free end of butt section

In the spinning or twisting spindle unit, with a one-piece running and butt section keyed to the spindle shaft, the free end of the spindle butt acts as a holder (2) for the armature (3) of an electro-motor, pushed into the armature (3) and secured in place. The spindle shaft (4) is fixed in the drilling (5) at the free end of the armature holding section (2). The seating surface of the armature holding section (2) and the spindle shaft (4) on one side overlap axially with those of the armature holding section (2) and the armature (3) on the other side. The spindle shaft (4) is secured in a cylindrical fit in the armature holding section (2), pref. shrunk into position with an intermediate bush (6), pref. a steel bush. Cross-wound cording (8) at the transfer between the spindle running section (1) and armature holding section (2) is formed as one piece with the upper spindle unit and hardened, or there is a bush of a higher performance metal than the upper spindle section, pref. of steel, with cross-wound cording on a section of the bush, combined with a shearing dish at one end and a spindle retainer at the other end. The spindle outer surfaces are hardened, pref. by hard anodising. ADVANTAGE - The unit is simple and cheap to produce, and overcomes oscillation and imbalance.
