摘要 PURPOSE:To easily recognize a structural alteration pertaining to a change to a morbid state and to improve a function for recognizing the part of the change to the morbid state by extracting a spatial frequency band component corresponding to the structure of the mucous membrance of the part of the change to the morbid state from an endoscope image. CONSTITUTION:The endoscope image is converted by a solid-state image pickup element 16 into an electric signal, which is stored in memories 36a - 36c corresponding to the respective colors of red (R), Green (G), and blue (B) through a selecting circuit 35. Then an image processor 104 performs image processing and displays the image on a monitor 106. The processor 104 subtracts a smoothing processing result which uses movement averaging, etc., from the original image to extract the spatial frequency band component. In an endoscope, the characteristic structure pattern of the normal mucous membrance exceeds the limit of the resolution, so it can not be recognized and the extracted spatial frequency band component corresponds to the structure pattern of the mucous membrance of the part of the change to the morbid state. Consequently, the recognition of the structural alteration pertaining to the change to the morbid state is facilitated and the recognizing function for the part of the change t the morbid state is improved.
