PURPOSE:To delay the proper exhaust valve opening timing by setting incombustible liquid such as water into a cylinder in a rate of one revolution in one cycle, in a four-cycle piston type internal combustion engine including spark ignition type and compression ignition type. CONSTITUTION:In a four-cycle piston type injection combustion engine including a spark ignition type and compression ignition type, an injection valve 1 which jets out the incombustible liquid such as water into a cylinder head part is arranged. Further, an injection pump 2 for incombustible liquid which is driven by a crankshaft, etc., in a rate of one revolution in one cycle is installed. The incombustible liquid is evaporated by the combustion gas having a high temperature by jetting the incombustible liquid into a cylinder in exhaust cycle. In this case, the temperature of the gas in the cylinder is lowered by the evaporation latent heat, and the pressure is lowered. The delay of the exhaust valve opening time or the reduction of the exhaust valve area can be achieved without increasing the exhaust loss work quantity with high output.
