Fibre=optic sensor for parameter measurement or transmission

The sensor comprises a single optical fibre or an intertained optical fibre bundle (1, 2, 3) connected at their ends (8a, 9a) to a light testing device. Pref. the optical fibre bundle (1, 2, 3)has three individual optical fibres which are plaited together and joined at spaced points, contained within an outer protective sleeve which can be attached to a ship`s trawl cable, for measuring the radial deformation of the latter, e.g. for geological survey of the sea bed.
