PURPOSE:To reduce an impulsive noise, a statistical noise, or the like of picture data or the like by discriminating whether relations between the value of objective data to be processed and respective values of a data group around this data are within a prescribed allowable range or not and switching execution/ non-execution of the filter function in accordance with discrimination results. CONSTITUTION:An address generator 32 which successively generates addresses of the data group around an objective address, a sort buffer register 34 which sorts data to transpose them in the order of data value at the time of storing a prescribed number of inputted data, and a buffer address counter 35 having an allowable address range setting part 35 which sets the allowable range for data of the objective address are provided. When objective data has an abnormal value, a representative value (the median or the like) of data of the group around objective data is taken out as the output, and the noise or the like is cut. When data has a value in the allowable range, this data is used as the output as it is, and there is little probability that this data includes noise, and the noise value is very small even if it includes the noise exceptionally. Thus, a true value or a value very approximating the true value is obtained as the output. |
